McAfee Hosts CEO Action “Check Your Blind Spots” Tour Addressing Unconscious Bias

SANTA CLARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–McAfee, the device-to-cloud cybersecurity company, today announced it will host the CEO Action “Check Your Blind Spots” mobile tour at the company’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. The tour bus is an interactive, mobile experience that enables McAfee employees to explore the nuances of unconscious bias and consider how to overcome these.

Created by the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion organization, the tour bus features a series of immersive and interactive elements including virtual reality and gaming technology, designed to provide an introspective look at common unconscious biases. The goal is to create a meaningful conversation about enhancing inclusion in the workplace and the community.

Featured activities include:

  • Look Through a Different Lens: Via gamification and a digital viewfinder, participants can watch an interaction between coworkers setting up a work-related event and then identify moments when unconscious biases were demonstrated.
  • Face Yourself, Face Reality: In front of a mirror, participants watch as their reflection fades away to reveal a different person staring back at them. Through this touchscreen experience, each new reflection shares a series of biases they’ve experienced.
  • I Act On Pledge: McAfee employees can join thousands of people nationwide in committing to checking their blind spots and changing behaviors through the I Act On pledge.

Chatelle Lynch, Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer of McAfee commented. “At McAfee, we constantly look for opportunities to challenge unconscious biases. Understanding and valuing another’s perspective is central to who we are. That’s why when we heard of CEO Action’s interactive experience to bring to life our blind spots and provide teaching methods for addressing these, we simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Our employees and community members will learn first-hand what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes, thereby opening the door to meaningful conversations. It’s these conversations that lead to a more inclusive workplace and society.”

The tour is making over 100 stops across the country through 2019. For more information, visit https://www.ceoaction.com/events/mobile-tour/.
