Data Center World Expands Conference Program, Adds Keynotes from JetBlue Airways and the Institute for the Future

Launches Digital Pass for Data Center, Facilities and IT Infrastructure Professionals to Attend Event Virtually

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Data Center World, the leading global conference for data center, facilities and IT infrastructure, today announces Tim Rohrbaugh, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), JetBlue Airways and Toshi Anders Hoo, Director, Emerging Media Lab, Institute for the Future will deliver keynote addresses. Data Center World is AFCOM’s annual global gathering, taking place August 16-19 at the Orlando County Convention Center in Florida.

On August 19, Rohrbaugh will deliver the keynote address “Ensuring security, data protection & customer trust in today’s complex cloud & data center environment.” Today’s data center ecosystem is more complex than ever, but one issue continues to demand urgent attention – creating and maintaining a secure environment for customer data. Rohrbaugh will discuss current security incidents and how to view them as foreshadowing threat scenarios that require us to change our security teams and investments. Rohrbaugh is a senior technology leader who integrated cyber security and privacy/data governance objectives since the time both professions came into existence. The range of his prior work is extremely technical but also broad within commercial entities, including being a CIO as well as Head of Product and Customer Experience. Earlier in his career, he was the CISO for a public financial services firm. Rohrbaugh’s cybersecurity experience includes military, DoD and federal and commercial consulting. Rohrbaugh is a CISSP and holds two joint patents on Identity Verification.

On August 17, tech disruptor, Toshi Anders Hoo, Director, Emerging Media Lab, Institute for the Future will deliver the keynote “The Future of Embodied Computing.” Hoo researches and explores the implications of the rapidly evolving technologies and platforms that are transforming human communication. He brings years of creative, new media, large-scale production expertise that bridges Institute for the Future emerging media research to create immersive futures experiences that span a wide variety of domains and sectors. Hoo has worked on a wide range of cutting-edge experiential media projects utilizing interactive and immersive technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality. Earlier in his career, Hoo served as media technology consultant for famed futurist, Ray Kurzweil, and produced live virtual reality demonstrations with Kurzweil for the TED stage. Hoo also co-directed the feature length documentary ‘The Singularity is Near’ with Kurzweil based on his best-selling book. Hoo’s work explores not only the direct applications of emerging technologies, but also the wider implications and impact on individuals, organizations and society at large. Joining Hoo on the keynote stage is special guest, Daniel Berkman, VR Composer.

The MIT Sports Lab counts among its clients Major League Baseball, Adidas, FIFA and Google. Chase will share her insights and lessons learned with Data Center World attendees.
  • Dr. Merzbacher will present “Quantum Computing: Preparing for the Data Center of the Future.” We’ve heard about quantum computing for years, and while it still has limited application today and may be a few years off, it’ll be transforming the data center before we know it. When it arrives, quantum computing is expected to transform the data center like no other technology. Dr. Merzbacher will tell attendees when we can expect it, and what it will do for the data center. Most importantly, she’ll tell us what we should we know now — and what we should do now — to prepare for this transformation.

More than 15 case studies highlighting real-world projects from companies such as Tractor Supply Co., Banner Health, Georgia Tech and Spectrum Health will be shared with attendees.

Additionally, Data Center World has added a workshop that will provide hands-on training in evaluating and implementing next-generation data center cooling platforms.
