Help Editing Your Digital Video Total Training Presents: Digital Video and Adobe Premiere Elements Reviewed By Stephen Schleicher

Did you get a new DV camera for the holidays?  Looking to edit your video with the new Adobe Premiere Elements?  Don?t know your Firewire from your USB?  DV Editing scare you?  Need to put your video on the web or DVD?  All of your questions will be answered with Total Training Presents:  Digital Video and Adobe Premiere Elements.

For the professional, the Total Training series is well known for being the best collection for covering the Adobe line of products, and Brian Maffitt is a great instructor.  What this means for the consumer is you are getting high quality professional training at consumer prices.  In this case, over three hours of training for a mere $50.

The disc begins with an overview of motion pictures and how that translates to today?s modern DV camera.  Following this, Maffitt shows you how to set up your editing system.  For the true beginner, knowing how to set up your DV editing system is a must watch.

Lesson 2 begins with some tips on how to shoot better video, but then segues into capturing your video and setting up a new project.  This includes how to properly connect your camera, capturing your video clip, and tweaking the preferences for best results.  Adobe Premiere Elements is very easy to use, and with Maffitt?s great tutoring, you?ll be using the application to its full potential in no time.

After you have digitized or captured your footage to your hard drive, Lesson 3 covers the Premiere Elements interface all the way from navigating the media window to important keyboard shortcuts to customizing the Timeline.  If you are someone who will be editing a lot of video, you will definitely want to pay attention to the keyboard shortcut section as they will help speed you through the editing process.

Each of the lessons is relatively short, but it is not until Lesson 4 that you learn how to edit your clip (digitized media) to the Timeline.  While this lesson will cover nearly everything you will need to know in order to edit your video together, the other lessons on the disc will discuss other important issues like working with audio in Premiere Elements, applying special effects and transitions, working with still images in your video, and adding titles and credits to your piece.

After you have completed your masterpiece, what next?  The final lesson walks you through the process of exporting your Premiere Elements project to DVD or the Web.  The joy is that you can make copies of your last holiday get together with family and friends, or even post your independent film to the web.

The disc contains all of the project files and royalty free stock footage you will be working with throughout the training session.  Because of the nature of this training the footage provided (shot at Brian?s house) is a true representation of what you may be working with as well.

Total Training Presents: Digital Video and Adobe Premiere Elements is an excellent training series for those beginning their editing journey.  For the super low price, clear and to the point instruction, and the ability to get you editing DV quickly, I give this a Must Buy Recommendation.
