Canon Announces M50 4K Mirrorless Camera and 470EX-AI Bounce Flash; More Info at B&H(February 26, 2018)
NEW YORK, Feb. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- B&H Photo would like to share the announcement of the Canon EOS M50 Mirrorless Camera and the Speedlite 470EX-AI. This release marks two firsts: one is that the M50 becomes the first mirrorless in the lineup to offer UHD 4K video capture, the second is the implementation of a world’s-first Auto Intelligent Bounce system in the 470EX-AI. Both are notable additions to their respective series and offer many other features that make them highly capable tools for photographers.

- 3.0" Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD
- UHD 4K and HD 720p120 Video Recording

- Combination 5-Axis Image Stabilization
Starting with the EOS M50, you will find a brand new 24.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 8 processor, which work together to produce clean, sharp images with an extended sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200. This sensor is also equipped with Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF with Eye Detection, for fast, accurate autofocus performance. Also, this core combination is what enables UHD 4K video capture at 23.98 fps and 720p slow motion at 120 fps. A silent mode is available now, as well, for quiet shooting in sound-sensitive environments.
Other advancements have been made to the body design, which features a 3.0" vari-angle touchscreen with Touch + Drag functionality and a 0.39" 2.36m-dot EVF for comfortable eye-level shooting. The compact camera is also equipped with Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth for easy connectivity with a mobile device. Additionally, the camera will be available as a body only in black, as a kit with the 15-45mm in black or white, as a kit with both the 15-45mm and 55-200mm lenses, and as a Video Creator Kit.
With the release of the Speedlite 470EX-AI, Canon has made a significant advancement in the world of flash photography, as this is the first on-camera unit with completely automatic bounce capabilities. Auto Intelligent Bounce, as Canon calls it, allows the flash to automatically measure the room and determine the best position for optimal performance. Combine this with E-TTL / E-TTL II, and the 470EX-AI becomes the first flash with 100% automatic operation. The flash is quite capable, with a guide number of 154' at ISO 100 and 105mm, and a zoom head able to cover lenses from 24-105mm. It can also be set up manually, if so desired, and features an optical slave mode.
